Google Chat

The Masthead Data app for Google Chat delivers incident alerts to your Google Chat spaces and lets your team triage them without leaving Chat: mark an incident as fixed, or mute a table or a pipeline directly from the alert message.

Before you start

Requirement	Details
Masthead account	Access to the Integrations page.
Google Chat	A Google Workspace account with permission to add apps to a space. If your organization restricts app installation, a Google Workspace administrator allows the app first. Personal Google accounts aren’t supported.
Scope	One Google Workspace organization connects to one Masthead account. Within that organization you can connect as many spaces as you need.

Install and connect the app

1. Start from Masthead

   Open the Integrations page, select Google Chat, and click Connect. Masthead opens the Masthead Data app page in the Google Workspace Marketplace.

2. Add the app to a space

   Click Install and follow the prompts. Then open the space in Google Chat that should receive alerts, click the space name, select Apps & integrations > Add apps, search for Masthead Data, and click Add. The app joins the space and posts its setup message there.

3. Complete the setup

   In the Connect Masthead Data to your organization card, click Complete setup. The link opens Masthead and connects your Google Workspace organization to your Masthead account. The app confirms in the space with a Setup complete card.

4. Setup a notification space

   Every connected space gets its own settings block on the Masthead integration page. Select notification settings and click Save.

Tip

The setup card goes to the space you add the app to. If you lose it, remove the app from the space and add it again—the app posts a new card. Type /help in the space, or send help to the app in a direct message, at any time to see these steps.

Connect additional spaces

The connection belongs to your Google Workspace organization, not to a single space. Add the app to any other space the same way. The app posts a Masthead Data is connected card instead of the setup card.

Every added space appears on the Masthead integration page with its own settings block and its own policy. You don’t need any additional setup.

Manage the integration

Pause the organization	Disable on the organization block in Masthead	Every space stops receiving alerts. The app stays installed in Google Chat. Enable restores all spaces and their settings.
Remove one space	Remove the app from that space in Google Chat	The space disappears from Masthead. Its policy returns if you add the app to that space again.
Remove the integration	Remove the app from every space in Google Chat	The organization disconnects from Masthead.
