Jira

This guide provides a step-by-step process for integrating Masthead Data with Jira to streamline your data incident management.

Integrating Masthead with Jira automates incident reporting, improves team collaboration, and speeds up resolution times.

Create integration

To enable Masthead for Jira, please follow the next steps:

1

Configure in Masthead

Navigate to Masthead's integration settings and select Jira. Enter your Jira URL and target project key.

2

Set Up OAuth Authorization

Complete the OAuth authorization flow with the following required scopes:

  • View: jira-user, jira-work - Allows reading user information and work items

  • Update: jira-work - Allows creating and updating Jira issues

3

Test Connection

Create a test incident in Masthead and use the integration to push it to Jira. Verify that the new Jira issue is created and all fields populate as expected.

Jira integration configuration is complete.

Manage Incidents in Jira

When a data incident is detected in Masthead, click the Push to Jira button on the incident widget. You can customize the following fields:

  • Project: Select the target Jira project

  • Issue Type: Choose the appropriate issue type for the incident

  • Summary: Auto-suggested based on incident context (editable)

  • Description: Auto-suggested based on incident context (editable)

  • Reporter: Set who should be listed as the reporter

Click Create to push the incident to Jira.

The incident with all the specified details will be created in Jira on behalf of the user that created an integration.

After that, the appropriate team can timely start analyzing and resolving the data issue without any back-and-forth messages needed for problem clarification. This allows you to speed up task delivery and distribution, as well as helps you process the problem in the shortest terms.

Once the Jira ticket is created at Masthead UI, you can check its number and status until it is resolved. So everyone on the team has a shared understanding if someone takes care of the data issue and its progress.
