Jira

This guide provides a step-by-step process for integrating Masthead Data with Jira to streamline your data incident management.

Integrating Masthead with Jira automates incident reporting, improves team collaboration, and speeds up resolution times.

To enable Masthead for Jira, please follow the next steps:

Navigate to Masthead’s integration settings and select Jira. Enter your Jira URL and target project key.

Complete the OAuth authorization flow with the following required scopes:

  • View: jira-user, jira-work - Allows reading user information and work items
  • Update: jira-work - Allows creating and updating Jira issues

Create a test incident in Masthead and use the integration to push it to Jira. Verify that the integration creates the Jira issue and populates all fields as expected.

Jira integration configuration is complete.

When Masthead detects a data incident, click the Push to Jira button on the incident widget. You can customize the following fields:

  • Project: Select the target Jira project
  • Issue Type: Choose the appropriate issue type for the incident
  • Summary: Auto-suggested based on the incident context. You can edit this field.
  • Description: Auto-suggested based on the incident context. You can edit this field.
  • Reporter: Set the user who appears as the reporter.

Click Create to push the incident to Jira.

The integration creates the incident in Jira with all the specified details on behalf of the user.

After that, the appropriate team can timely start analyzing and resolving the data issue without any back-and-forth messages needed for problem clarification. This allows you to speed up task delivery and distribution, as well as helps you process the problem in the shortest terms.

Once the Masthead creates the Jira ticket, you can check its number and status until the team resolves the ticket. This ensures everyone on the team knows who is handling the data issue and understands its progress.
